Lola Omolola Created A Safe Space For Women On Facebook With 'Female In Nigeria'

As much as we hope for an open and accepting society, this is sadly not true for many people, especially for those in marginalized communities.
Everyone wants to be comfortable within their surroundings: being able to fully express their thoughts and feelings without judgement. And this is where safe spaces come in.
Safe spaces are communities – either online or off – where bigotry and oppressive views are not tolerated. They are controlled environments in which people can discuss certain issues and support one another.
The need for a safe space for Nigerian women is what led Lola Omolola to create the Females In Nigeria Facebook group – a secret group which has grown, in two years, to have over a million members sharing their stories and supporting one another.

In recognition of the impressive work she's been doing as the administrator of the group, Lola was invited to meet with Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg.
Speaking about the meeting on his Facebook page, Mark said:
"I've been meeting group admins across the country who are building meaningful communities on Facebook.
Two years ago, [Lola] founded a secret Facebook group called FIN. It's a no-judgment space where more than a million women come to talk about everything from marriage and sex to health issues and work problems.
It's helping end the culture of silence that exists for women in some parts of the world."
Later this month, Lola will be joining other Facebook group admins at the first-ever Facebook Communities Summit – where Mark will be teaching them how to do more to build their community.

Man who impersonates female prostitutes arrested in Benue The Benue State Police Command have arrested a 19-year-old man who pretends to be a female prostitute to sleep with men in hotels in the state.
